In most other sectors, people are there for scale. The traveler in the airport, the worker in the lobby — they serve the architecture. They give the room life and proportion. You could swap them out and the building is still the subject. Photographing higher education projects, the scale tips in the other direction. The building exists to change the people in it. The student isn't set dressing for the architecture. The student is the point, and the building is the setting that makes their story possible. The photo that proves the design worked is the one where you feel the student's experience first, and understand that the building is what served it.
