St. Louis Community College's Advanced Manufacturing Center is organized around the idea of a main street and a town square. Nearly 20 programs, from welding to robotics, now share the building, some moved from elsewhere on campus. The main street is a ground-floor circulation spine that doubles as display space for student work. The town square is a three-story skylit atrium ringed by overlooks and computer labs, with stepped seating for events and classes. Workshops are walled in glass, so visitors can see training in progress. The makerspace sits at the center of the town square, above the main street, and is open to local businesses as well as students.
