The Neuhoff District is a 1905 Nashville meatpacking plant converted into offices, apartments and public space. Two structures were demolished, leaving an amphitheater and a courtyard where the original concrete columns still stand. Crumbling stairs and catwalks were kept as ornament.
Garrison House is an intact midcentury modern house from 1956, cedar and stone under a flat roof with cantilevered eaves and walls of glass. The original wood paneling and built-ins survive, along with the copper hood over the wood-burning fireplace.
A 1969 community college building on the STLCC Florissant Valley campus, renovated to gather enrollment, financial aid, and advising into one place. A central assembly stair with wood seating tiers links the entry level to the dining and cafe spaces above.
The Obama Presidential Center is a museum and civic campus that occupies the north end of Jackson Park. The tower is concrete clad in New Hampshire granite, with canted corners and a concrete letter screen at the top. The campus also holds a forum, a library branch, and a gymnasium.
The SIUE Health Sciences building unites the university's pharmacy and nursing schools. A new three-story brick structure wraps two existing buildings around a two-story atrium, with terrazzo floor and a preserved facade that forms an interior wall.
144 Vanderbilt is a condominium in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, clad in scalloped pink precast concrete. It steps in and out as it rises, producing private terraces, a sequence of open-air courtyards, and exterior hallways open to daylight.
