I document the architecture of St. Louis as an ongoing body of work. I do it with purpose, whether or not anyone is paying me to, and I am in the process of assembling an architectural guide to the region. When a firm here hires me, they are hiring someone who already knows this region cold and sees their building in a civic context. Another photographer can fly in, do a good job, and leave. I'm one of the people writing the record of this city's architecture in the 21st century, and every local commission joins that record.
