Sutton Tower is a luxury residential skyscraper in Manhattan's Sutton Place, an upscale riverfront neighborhood otherwise characterized by low-rise pre-war buildings and townhouses. The entry is scaled in response to this context. The upper section emphasizes verticality, giving residents panoramic views over the East River. The project is architect Thomas Juul-Hansen's first skyscraper. A faint Art Deco influence is visible in the slim limestone tower, most apparent in the light-yellow metallic crown, whose angular planes shift from soft gray to gold depending on the sun.
