Sutton Tower - New York NY

Sutton Tower is a luxury residential skyscraper located in Manhattan’s Sutton Place, an upscale riverfront neighborhood otherwise known for low-rise pre-war buildings and townhouses. The building's entry is scaled in response to this context, while the upper section emphasizes verticality, providing residents with panoramic views over the East River. This project is architect Thomas Juul-Hansen's first skyscraper. There is a faint Art Deco influence in the slim limestone tower, most evident on its light-yellow metallic crown. The angular planes of the crown's surface reflect light differently depending on the angle of the sun and lighting quality, shifting from soft gray to bright gold, an instantly recognizable beacon on the skyline.
