DOORWAYS is a nonprofit that provides housing and supportive services for people living with HIV/AIDS in the St. Louis region. This campus gathers what had been scattered emergency housing and a nondescript administrative office to a single location in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood. Three buildings occupy the three-acre site: a multi-story housing wing of emergency and transitional units, a services and administration building that includes client programming, offices, a community room, and a volunteer center, and Elliott Place, housing with a retail pharmacy. The campus faces the surrounding streets rather than turning inward. Across a sloped site, the landscape manages stormwater through bioswales and rain gardens, and a bridge over the western rain garden carries the arrival sequence from the parking lot to reception.
