Thorncrown Chapel

Thorncrown Chapel exterior, wood lattice and glass walls among trees, by Fay Jones, Eureka Springs Arkansas - architectural photographer Arkansas

Thorncrown Chapel — Fay Jones — Eureka Springs, AR — 1980

Fay Jones spent his career turning Frank Lloyd Wright's organic architecture into something regional, bound to Ozark material and landscape. Thorncrown is where that mode became nationally legible, the proof that a chapel framed from pine small enough to carry up a wooded path could win the discipline's highest honors. University of Arkansas's architecture school now carries his name.
